In early July 2024, Noble Network was very delighted to provide consulting services to one of our United States customers, The Seed and the Bean, to help them successfully manufacture and export their order from Vietnam.
The Seed and the Bean is a US company, founded by Mr. Christopher Thomas.
“The company was started in 2018 when I initially moved out to Colorado from Chicago. The company was originally a mobile drink stand, serving coffee and lemonade, hence the seed and the bean. After a few years of living in Colorado, I wanted to purchase some land to get away from the city and to enjoy nature. As I was searching for land, one piece of property cut my eye which had a tiny house on it already. Over the course of a year, I finished building the tiny house on that property and thoroughly enjoyed the process of putting it together and the different trades that went into completing it. From beginning framing to finish work, the diversity of work was very engaging. At the same time as I was discovering tiny homes and tiny living, the housing prices in Colorado went up exponentially from 2018 to 2023. More and more of my co-workers and colleagues were unable to afford housing and I thought that was not fair to be saving for a home diligently at the same time housing prices were getting more and more out of reach” – Mr. Christopher Thomas – Owner of The Seed and the Bean.
The company vision is to provide an affordable housing solution without sacrificing comfort, by including thoughtful home automation features- sound, lighting, automatic blinds and heated floors to name a few. Keeping the cost of ownership low is also a key company value. “We want our customers to be as free as possible by purchasing our tiny homes- Free from consumer debt, an expensive mortgage, and from high monthly costs of heating and cooling
the house. We design the homes to have integrated passive solar heating as well. Our goal is to provide an excellent product to our customer first and to be able to scale to selling 100 kit houses in 2025” – Mr. Christopher Thomas – Owner of The Seed and the Bean.
The products shipped to the US for The Seed and the Bean involved 10 steel trailers made in Vietnam. They were sealed in a 40″ hq container and transported by sea and rail, and eventually through a US customs Denver warehouse to the customer’s warehouse by a specialized truck.
A crane was used to lift the container off the specialized truck. Staff from the transportation company assisted in locking 90-degree rotating lugs into the four corners of the container, ensuring a safe position for the crane to lift the goods.
The container was lowered to a balanced position hovering over its final resting spot. Once the container was landed and stable, the process of opening the locked container began, first from the south door, followed by the north door.
The container was successfully accepted after the customer confirmed that the trailer frames packed in the container were in good condition with no damage.
